When Will This Journey End?: Shattering Mountains Series

Does anyone else relate to that question?! Is this over yet? When can I get off the mountain? When will The Song That Never Ends stop playing in my head?!?

Finding Hope in the Journey

I read something the other day on Facebook from Nate Johnston that gave me such incredible hope. Here's the first part of what he shared:

Healing in Layers

That gave me such an incredible hope! I am constantly reminding myself that healing is in onion layers. Sometimes, it's large chunks. Other times, it's that extremely thin film that likes to get stuck on your fingers. Either way, it's the same onion.

Healing doesn't happen overnight; it's this beautiful yet sometimes painful gradual process with moments of breakthrough mixed with subtle, almost imperceptible changes. That understanding helps me appreciate each step forward, however small, as I move toward wholeness.

The Battle in Our Minds

Meditating on the questions and seeing what was reflected back was a hard yet necessary truth. He's healed, and He's healing. It's hard to wrap my human mind around it. My part in this fight is to renew my mind - battle the old ways and methods of thinking. Those ways are contrary to who He is, the very character and nature of God. They're also contrary to scripture.

Renewing our mind isn't just about positive thinking—it's about aligning my thoughts with God's truth. As I walk out this healing journey, my natural thoughts may often contradict what I know to be true spiritually. This internal conflict requires intentional reflection and meditation on scripture, dismantling mindsets that have hindered my emotional and spiritual well-being for too long.

Out With the Old, In With the Truth

It's time to flush those mindsets OUT and replace them with the words He speaks over me. Those can be His sovereign promises, His whispers to us in the secret place, and/or His words received through the prophetic words from someone else.*

His words aren't just nice sentiments—they're spiritual anchors that guide me through life's storms. They offer comfort when I'm weary and direction when I'm lost. Their power lies in their ability to transform and renew my mind, providing the encouragement I need when I wonder if I will ever get off this mountain.**

The Secret Place of Hearing

In the stillness of the secret place, I hear His whispers and promises meant for me alone. These intimate moments are heaven's treasures that sustain me through trials, reminding me of His unwavering faithfulness even when the path seems endless.

Using Every Weapon in Our Arsenal

This is why it's necessary to process the words He's given us! Otherwise, are we truly using every weapon in our toolbox to battle the enemy and fight the good fight of faith?

Engaging in these spiritual battles requires equipping my soul (mind, will, and emotions) with tools of faith and resilience. When I arm myself with scripture, prayer, and supportive community (⚔️⚔️⚔️), I build an armor capable of withstanding even the fiercest storms—knowing I will emerge not just surviving but strengthened in my faith.

While this journey often feels like it will never end, I'm holding onto the truth that my faith and my words provide the roadmap for navigating all its twists and turns. Through renewing my mind, embracing God's promises, equipping myself with spiritual tools, and fighting the good fight of faith, I'm finding the hope and healing needed to endure this season of shattering mountains.
